What is your professional or training background?
A lifetime of learning from life, Bachelor Visual Art (major ceramics) LaTrobe Uni, Dip Visual Art (painting & drawing) Wangaratta Tafe, incomplete Grad Cert Arts Events Management Deakin Uni, Cert IV Small Business M/ment, Cert IV Business Marketing and a lifetime of workshops, short courses and making. Art teacher for 23 years.
At the moment my passion is for everything clay- functional ware, sculptural work, unique commissions. Using porcelain, earthenware, stoneware & raku and various building and firing techniques.
All my life I have been passionate about ‘hand made’ from knitting, cooking, growing food, sewing, painting etc and I will continue this for all of my life. My current and future research projects include printing on clay, designing new shapes and forms and generally soaking up info on any new skills. My current aim is to make and sell from my studio now my teaching career has finished.
I have capabilities in small business management as I have been successfully self employed for 25 years, I’ve even kept up with the changes in methodology and am happy being a mac nerd. I would love to work with an experienced potter in a mentor relationship and continue my studies at LaTrobe onto Masters level.
Such a difficult question…..hmmm only 5!
-I am continually inspired by life, nature, people, architecture and constant observation
– www.ceramicsartsdaily.org provides constant visual and theoretical info
– Lucy at thedesignfiles.net provides great daily blogs & I have a big set of other creative blogs I read
– I’m struggling to pinpoint one ceramic artist because it would insult the others I adore- many, many other ceramic artists inspire my thinking
– the world wide web for opening up the world to be a giant library of information, visual gluttony and technical support with websites, creative blogs and instant results.
