Martina Gemmola

What is your professional or training background?
I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Photography) degree from RMIT. Since finishing university I have met and assisted some pretty amazing photographers, artists and creatives, and travelled the world, allowing my craft to grow and gathering inspiration and momentum with every footstep.

What do you make, create or do?
I take photographs, for a career, and because I can’t imagine ever not. I shoot portrait, interior & lifestyle imagery, and some of my clients include Megan Park, Frankie Magazine, & Rooftop Cinema.

What other creative areas would you like to explore as a side-project to your current work, or move into full-time?
I am growing more and more inspired by spaces, and the people that inhabit and create them. Interior design fascinates me, and I would love to collaborate with the people who make these spaces their art.

What skills do you have that help you run your business, or what skills would you like to develop?
In the past I have worked as a project/production manager, and my fine tuned problem solving skills come in handy, as does the ability to be a calming influence on those around me. I am a good listener, which allows me to really ascertain what it is my client wishes to achieve, a pretty important part of any business!

List five people, businesses or websites/blogs that keep you motivated and inspired, and why?

Sharyn Cairns, Photographer – An incredible photographer and an all round lovely lady.

ApartmentTherapy – Amazing interiors, beautiful colours, and fresh ideas.

Daily Imprint – Another one of those blogs that makes you want to leap out of bed in the morning and create something!

The Design Files – Keeping me up to date with Melbourne’s finest creatives.

Andrew Moore, Photographer – His photographs gave me the desire to see the world.
