Lauren Seeman has launched an exciting new venture – Patchy Rugs! They are rugs sourced from Turkey, which have then been overdyed and made by sewing patches from different rugs together to create a unique and contemporary looking piece of floor-art.

Christmas Market season is definitely in full swing as of this weekend, with a biggie this Sunday at Fed Square in Melbourne – it’s Markit and includes the likes of Ink & Spindle, Beci Orpin, Simply Phoebe (who will have Conversations… for sale at her stall), Edition X, Ruby & Sage, Lark, Miss Betty Jo/Gleaners Inc, and So Little Time Co.

Also having pre-christmas product sales are Miki.O (30% off cards, with free Oz shipping!); The Public Studio (a ‘clearance sale’ of their popular DIY courses which will soon be discontinued); Metremade‘s massive sale continues; and Thread Den have 20% off their entire range of vintage and local designer stock in store until Christmas.

Maison Instyle is a an interiors trade event with a strong focus on design and creativity, to be held in 2012. Whereas trade shows such as Life Instyle and Reed Gift Fairs cover the gift & homewares markets, Maison Instyle will offer interiors products (furniture, lighting, home accessories, textiles, bath & kitchen) to likeminded retailers, interior designers, specifiers, stylists and suppliers. It’s a curated event so there is strict selection but anyone interested can apply via the website. Also check out the little interview with Maison’s Event Manager, Amelia Coote-Harris, on their blog.

This weekend the doors to Betty’s Place at 605 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick, swing open! Betty’s Place is a new retail concept store from Magdalena Franco. It’s not quite like a regular shop, but more like the inside of someone’s house. Some things they’ll have only one of and others they might have many in different designs. But you’ll be sure to find handmade cushions, vintage clothing, unique jewellery, framed prints, folk-inspired homewares, vintage fabrics and sewing notions, furniture, craft kits, one-off treasures and curios, all to Betty’s tastes. Find out more about Betty here.
