Hayley Welsh’s creatures can be found as far away as Berlin and New York and as near as galleries, laneways, and bookshops, in Perth. As a street artist, Hayley blurs the boundary between illustration and art, and weaves a poignant narrative into each piece of work—a message for each person to reflect on in the moment like “take the leap,” and “dream big.”
Hayley’s narrative is reflective of her own creative journey. She faced her own fears when she left the UK in 2009 and pursued her work abroad—she has called Perth home for the past three years. Hayley is one of Western Australia’s newest creatives. She’s also a resident at Linton and Kay Galleries, where she regularly hosts workshops and shows, and creates new and exciting experiences for her audiences. She inspires people to trust what they love and ignore their fears.
In an intimate and interactive chat over wine and appetizers, Hayley will share her evolving career journey, how she has confronted and overcome fear in her creative work, and what it’s like to be a female street artist in Perth.
