Weekly round-up: interesting finds from around the web this week

1.26 by Janet Echelman

I love this TED story of artist Janet Echelman's search and discovery of new and innovative materials to create her huge sculptures (pictured). I guess sometimes the real creativity comes from figuring out how to make your creative concept a reality!

I'm sure a lot of Melbourne CWC-ers are looking forward to the new series Made By Hand which starts on Channel 31 next week. Made by Hand is a new, documentary style, television series that showcases the world of beautiful and unique handcrafted works made by the crafts people of Melbourne. Watch the trailer (featuring a spunky-looking Mel from Thread Den!)

"They all surround themselves with mentors who complement their own skills and they are good at both networking and sales and marketing. And they always have some experience in the type of business in which they are hoping to make their break". An article on entrepreneurialism and small business success (featuring Abigail Forsyth of Keep Cup) from The Age. (via @pocketcarnival)

Food for thought: Remaining competitive in today's creative market (from Desktop magazine).

Did you read this interview with artist Noël Skrzypczak on The Design Files last week? This Arts Victoria video is a nice insight into how she creates her work. Noël is exhibiting at the Heide Museum of Modern Art  from this Saturday 25 June until early October.
Have a great weekend everyone!
